Pokerogue is a browser-based, fan-made roguelike inspired by the world of Pokémon. Instead of focusing on exploration and story, it narrows the experience down to what matters most: strategic battles. Each run is procedurally generated, so enemies, rewards, and progression paths change every time you play, keeping the experience fresh and unpredictable.

Core Gameplay

The game begins in classic Pokémon style: choose your character and select a starter. You can pick familiar favorites such as:

Bulbasaur (Grass)
Charmander (Fire)
Squirtle (Water)

However, there’s a strategic twist. Each Pokémon has a value ranging from 1 to 9, and your starting team cannot exceed a total value of 10. This forces you to make meaningful decisions from the very beginning—do you rely on one powerful Pokémon or build a balanced lineup?

Once the run starts, survival becomes the priority:

Each stage consists of 10 consecutive battles.
You will face wild Pokémon, rival trainers, and Gym Leaders.
After every victory, you choose one reward.
If your entire team faints, the run resets.

Catching Pokémon remains essential. Weaken wild opponents, use Poké Balls, and expand your team. Legendary Pokémon, once captured, become permanently unlocked for future runs, adding meaningful long-term progression and encouraging replayability.
